ZHOU Jinfeng: Comprehensively and Rigorously Promote International Mutual Recognition of Bio-based Testing and Certification

The Standard Working Committee of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) approved the group standard "Guidelines for Certification of Bio-based Material Content in Materials" on August 26 and started the standard compilation work.

On the morning of September 3, 2024, Dr. ZHOU Jinfeng, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CBCGDF provided overall guidance for the group standard work of the Guidelines for Testing and Certification of Bio-based Material Content in order to promote the testing and certification of bio-based materials in China.

Dr. ZHOU pointed out that the testing and certification of bio-based material can draw on the requirements and practices of international standard organizations such as the United States, the European Union and ISO. The certification we do can help Chinese companies promote their products to the world.

As the global climate becomes increasingly warmer and extreme weather occurs frequently, the development of a low-carbon economy and the encouragement of the development of biomass products are of great significance to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing the dependence of the plastics industry on oil, and promoting the development of various industries. The Standard Working Committee of the China Green Development Association should actively connect with international standards, innovate and explore, and strive for the initiative and voice of high-level standards in the field of biodiversity and green development.

In China, many companies have begun to use bio-based materials to replace traditional fossil fuel plastic products, and renewability and environmental friendliness are the biggest characteristics of bio-based products.

CBCGDF Standards Working Committee should actively connect with international standards, innovate and explore, and strive for the initiative in high-level standards in the fields of biodiversity and green development.
