Destroying Aquatic Biological Resources in the Yellow River Basin: 3 People Were Detained for Illegally Catching and Selling Rare Wild Fish

Recently, Ningxia police cracked a case of illegal fishing that endangered precious and endangered wild fish in the Yellow River Basin, arrested three suspects, destroyed three criminal dens, and seized 46 "Pseudo-catfish" and 1,086 "Big-nosed Goby" under the second-level key protection of aquatic wild animals, totaling 1,132, with a value of more than 500,000 yuan. At present, the suspect has been taken into criminal detention and the case is under investigation.

The Yellow River, as the mother river of the Chinese nation, carries a profound cultural heritage and historical heritage. The Yellow River Basin is not only an important ecological barrier for China, but also a key area for economic development. It plays a pivotal role in my country's economic and social development and ecological security. The protection of the ecological environment and biodiversity in the Yellow River Basin is of great significance to promoting high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.

However, due to the lack of attention paid to environmental protection by some companies and individuals, as well as the lack of awareness of protection, many challenges have been brought to the ecological environment and biodiversity protection in the Yellow River Basin. Under the background that the provinces along the Yellow River are striving to build a model area for ecological protection in the Yellow River Basin, typical cases of illegal fishing that endanger precious and endangered wild fish have still occurred, which once again sounded a wake-up call for us. In addition to the top-level design framework, it also requires the active cooperation of different social units, including companies, institutions, communities, and the public, in order to truly achieve results.

For a long time, due to the continuous impact of human activities, the biodiversity of the Yellow River has been destroyed and fishery resources have shown a trend of decline. The occurrence of illegal fishing has further aggravated this trend, which not only disturbs and destroys the biodiversity of the Yellow River, but also has a negative impact on the sustainable development of the Yellow River.
