Jinfeng ZHOU Invited to Attend Eco-civilization and Sustainable Development Forum

Dr. Jinfeng ZHOU, Secretary General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), Fellow of World Academy of Sustainable Art and Science (WAAS) is invited to attend the Eco-civilization and Sustainable Development Forum.


On September 21, 2024, Eco-civilization and Sustainable Development Forum will be held in HKUSTs Cheung On Tak Lecture Theatre by World Academy of Sustainable Development Limited (WAOSD), China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and the HongKong University of Science and Technology(HKUST).

Dr ZHOU Jinfeng is an Executive Committee Member of the Club of Rome, a member of the World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL) of IUCN, an expert of the Global Pact for the Environment, an expert to the ISO/TC 331 on Biodiversity, Vice President of the World Green Design Organization.

 

He was the first initiator of the Guangcai Programme(1994), awarded the Second National Innovation Prizein 2020,Cavaliere, Ordine della Stella d'Italiaby Italy President in 2021, and the Person of the Year by China Newsweek in 2021; And in 2023, he was honored as a member of the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS).

He pioneered a new type of protected area - the Community Conservation Area (CCAfa) system in 2016 - to explore other effective measures in biodiversity conservation. As of now, CBCGDF has supported the establishment of more than 210 CCAfa's in over 30 provinces throughout China, whose various protection objectives include biodiversity, natural landscape, natural resources and cultural heritage and fighting against wildlife crimes. He has earned a global reputation as a seasoned supporter of sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, environmental protection, and poverty alleviation.

The Forum aims to bring together the foremost environmental experts, scholars, and industry leaders worldwide to deliberate on pivotal matters concerning the construction of ecological civilization and sustainable development. This gathering will facilitate in- depth discussions and idea exchanges on topics such as biodiversity conservation, sustainable tourism, urban green development, and ecological preservation. It aims to disseminate successful global and local practices and pioneering measures, fostering a collaborative exploration on how Hong Kong can evolve into a hub of sustainable development talent. By amalgamating the collective wisdom and efforts of all stakeholders,the Forum endeavors to promote sustainable development both in HongKong and across the globe, steering collectively towards a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future.
