Illegal Hunting in the Daqingshan Forest Farm in Suihua, Accidentally Injuring Companions | CBCGDF Volunteers Call for Strict Control of Autumn Hunting
On September 18, 2024, volunteers from the Suihua Wetland Conservation Area of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) received reports from local villagers that on the previous night, six or seven villagers brought illegal hunting tools to the Daqingshan Forest Farm in Qing'an County, Suihua City to hunt wild animals. During the poaching process, one companion was accidentally injured and has been sent to a local hospital for treatment.
Regarding
the poaching incident, the specific situation is still under follow-up
investigation. CBCGDF volunteers reported this matter in the hope that relevant
management departments will pay attention and prohibit illegal hunting of wild
animals.
The
People's Government of Beilin District, Suihua City has clearly issued the
"Notice on the Release of Wildlife Hunting Prohibition Areas and Hunting
Prohibition Periods", which clearly states: 1) Hunting prohibition areas:
the entire administrative area of Beilin
District is designated as hunting prohibition areas. 2) Hunting prohibition
period: the whole year is regarded as hunting prohibition period, that is,
illegal hunting activities are prohibited throughout the year. In addition,
national laws and regulations on wildlife protection, such as the
"Wildlife Protection Law of the People's Republic of China", also
clearly prohibit illegal hunting.
