Dr. ZHOU Jinfeng Delivered a Keynote Speech at the Eco-civilization and Sustainable Development Forum

The Eco-cvilization and Sustainable Development Forum was held on September 21, 2024 at the Cheung On Tak Lecture Theatre. This forum is jointly organized by the World Sustainable Development Institute, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary General of CBCGDF, Fellow of World Academy of Art and Science, delivered a Keynote Speech at forum with the theme of Enchanting China and Eco-civilization.


He mentioned the six times of Mass Extinctions firstly, and emphasized that Mega El Niño instigated the end-Permian mass extinction. From Primitive Civilization, Agricultural Civilization, Industrial Civilization, human beings need come to the Ecological Civilization for now.

 

He then introduced about CBCGDF’s efforts on Saving Endangered Great Bustards（Otis tarda) in 2016 - Lauching of the CBCGDF CCAfa System, Saving Native Pollinators & 3 CCAfas for Native Bees, 222 Conservation Areas (updated September, 2024), the practices of  Conservation in Our Neighbourhood (BCON), which includes Protecting the Lifeline of Migratory Birds, the Eco-civilization Sites, Environmental Public Interest Litigation Cases, and the promoting of the Bio-based materials.

At last, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng introduced the work carried out by the CBCGDF to protect the Beijing Swift, and emphasized the concepts of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind and  a Shared Future for All Life on Earth to the audience.
