Balancing Tradition and Compassion: Reflection on Animal Welfare and Chinese Philosophy & Practics

On September 14, 2024, the Law Committee and Biology & Science Ethics Committee (BASE) of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation co-hosted a hybrid symposium titled "Biology, Science Ethics, and Black Bear Conservation". The symposium focused on the highly controversial issue of bear bile farming.

At this meeting, Li from Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine shared insights on contemporary Western animal welfare research and practices, and their implications for China. Her presentation at the Symposium on Biology, Science Ethics, and Black Bear Conservation offered valuable perspectives on improving animal welfare standards in China.
