The CBD COP16 Delegate of CBCGDF Will Attend 2024 Biodiversity Capacity-Building and Development Forum

The 2024 Biodiversity Capacity-Building and Development Forum is being convened by the Secretariat in collaboration with the Government of Colombia, the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership and other partners, on 19 October 2024 in Cali, Colombia, back-to-back with and at the same venue as the fifth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI 5) and the UN Biodiversity Conference 2024. The CBD COP16 delegate of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation CBCGDFwill attend the forum.

The Forum is being organized in response to the request to the Executive Secretary by the Conference of the Parties.

the Forum will provide an opportunity for Parties, capacity development practitioners and providers, indigenous peoples and local communities, and other relevant stakeholders to share experiences, best practices and lessons learned in the design and implementation of national capacity-building and development action plans, programmes and projects to support the implementation of national biodiversity strategies and action plans and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

It is expected that the Forum will contribute to a better understanding of the current status of capacity-building and development, as well as technical and scientific cooperation at the national level, the priority needs of Parties, the strategic capacity development action plans in place or under preparation, the good practices and lessons learned and recommendations to improve the planning, design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of  capacity-building and development, and technical and scientific cooperation initiatives. The Forum will also foster coordination and cooperation among the various actors, initiatives and partnerships supporting the implementation of the Framework.
