Eco-civilization and Sustainable Development Forum will be Held on September 21 in Hongkong, China

On September 21, 2024, Eco-civilization and Sustainable Development Forum will be held in HKUSTs Cheung On Tak Lecture Theatre by World Academy of Sustainable Development Limited (WAOSD), China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and the HongKong University of Science and Technology(HKUST).


The Forum aims to bring together the foremost environmental experts, scholars, and industry leaders worldwide to deliberate on pivotal matters concerning the construction of ecological civilization and sustainable development. This gathering will facilitate in- depth discussions and idea exchanges on topics such as biodiversity conservation, sustainable tourism, urban green development, and ecological preservation. It aims to disseminate successful global and local practices and pioneering measures, fostering a collaborative exploration on how Hong Kong can evolve into a hub of sustainable development talent. By amalgamating the collective wisdom and efforts of all stakeholders,the Forum endeavors to promote sustainable development both in HongKong and across the globe, steering collectively towards a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future.

Prof. Christine Loh will deliver the opening remarks. Prof. Christine is the Chief Development Strategist of Institute for the Environment, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Chair of the Steering Committee of the Hong Kong Biodiversity Expert Group.

Dr. Jinfeng ZHOU will give the keynote speech with the title of Enchanting China and Eco-civilization. Dr. ZHOU is the Secretary General of China Biodiversity  Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and Fellow of World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS).

Mr.James A.F. Wadham, President of Ave Fenix Philanthropy Group, will talk about engaging philanthropy as a development partner with universities and civil societies.

Prof. LAM Kin Che will deliver a keynote speech with the title of Nature Conservation in HongKong: Significance, progress and challenges. Prof. LAM Kin Che is the Visiting Scholar at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Member of Advisory Committee on Countryside Conservation.

Mr. Chandran Nair, Founder and CEO of Global Institute for Tomorrow, will share about re-designing society for eco-civilization : addressing the Traumas of the 21st Century.

Prof. Alice Catherine Hughes will give the keynote speech with the topic of Mainstreaming Conservation Policy and Practice. Prof. Alice is the Deputy Secretary General of CBCGDF and Associate Professor at School of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Hong Kong.

Prof. Alexis Lau at HKUST will deliver the closing remark.
