CBCGDF Representatives Attending The 8th IUCN Asia Regional Conservation Forum Opens in Bangkok

On the morning of September 3, 2024, the 8th IUCN Asia Regional Conservation Forum (RCF) officially kicked off in Bangkok, Thailand. As a member of the IUCN, the Deputy Secretary General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) was invited to attend on-site.

At this conference, over 500 government officials, scientists, representatives of environmental organizations, as well as indigenous peoples and local community members from all over Asia gathered to discuss how to achieve the goal of "Reimagining Conservation in Asia: A nature Positive Future".

The forum aims to evaluate the progress of conservation in Asia, reshape conservation priorities, and discuss key transformative directions and actions for achieving nature benefits in Asia and the world in the future. The attendees will delve into global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss, and jointly seek a development path for harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

After the opening ceremony in the morning, the forum entered one of the core agendas - " Reimagining Conservation in Asia ". In this session, the attending representatives had in-depth discussions on how to achieve a "natural positive" conservation model in the Asian region. With the intensification of global environmental problems, Asia, as an important region for global biodiversity, urgently needs new conservation ideas and action plans. The afternoon agenda focused on the "IUCN's 20-year strategic vision and the 2026-2029 Programme", with active participation and heated discussions among the attending representatives. Another important event in the afternoon was the Youth Leaders Forum, which specially invited youth representatives from various countries and regions to have in-depth discussions and exchanges on how contemporary youth can participate in nature conservation and sustainable development. As future leaders, the younger generation plays an indispensable role in addressing global environmental challenges, and their voices and actions inject new vitality and hope into the conference.
