CBCDGF Celebrates the International Vulture Awareness Day

The 2024 International Vulture Awareness Day falls on 7 September 2024, a chance to shatter the myths, celebrate the wonder of vultures, and take action to protect these vital birds.

Vultures are facing a global crisis16 of the 23 vulture populations are endangered or threatened with extinction. Vulture populations worldwide are experiencing catastrophic declines due to various threats, including direct and indirect poisoning, illegal killing, and electrocutions or collisions with power lines.

In order to strengthen the protection of multiple species of birds of prey, including falcons, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has established a number of Community Conservation Area for Raptor in Hebei, Heilongjiang and Liaoning provinces. The Community Conservation Area integrates raptor protection into daily work, and protects the habitat of raptors by carrying out a series of activities such as raptor protection, rescue, research, science popularization, and education, and does a good job in the protection of other birds to help the local ecological environment and biodiversity protection.

On December 18, 2023, CBCGDF and Pakistan Raptor Conservation and Rehabilitation Centre (RCCRP) signed a memorandum of cooperation to build a community level biodiversity conservation network and raise awareness on the conservation of raptor biodiversity. Strengthen in-service training and specialty courses on raptor identification, conservation and habitat assessment, and assist in professional capacity building cooperation.
