Implementation and Assessment Guidelines for Carbon Neutrality of Conference & Exhibition is Here!|CBCGDF Standards Working Committee

In order to implement the "Opinions on Fully, Accurately and Comprehensively Implementing the New Development Concept and Doing a Good Job in Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality" of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, fully, accurately and comprehensively implement the new development concept and help achieve the dual carbon goals, the Standard Working Committee of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation issued the "Implementation and Assessment Guidelines for Carbon Neutrality of Conference & Exhibition" on August 28, 2024. The guidelines will be officially implemented on September 3, 2024.

The Guidelines stipulate the process, work content and evaluation results of the preparation, implementation, closing and evaluation stages of the implementation and evaluation of carbon neutrality in conferences and exhibitions. The Guidelines are applicable to the implementation and evaluation of carbon neutrality in conferences and exhibitions, and can also be used as a reference for carbon neutrality in large-scale events or other large-scale activities.

"Carbon neutrality" means that the net emission of carbon dioxide or greenhouse gases is zero. That is, all carbon dioxide or greenhouse gas emissions are offset through carbon sinks, carbon capture, utilization and storage, achieving positive and negative offsets and achieving relative "zero emissions".

The organizers of conference and exhibition activities need to integrate the concept of emission reduction throughout the entire process of the event, and implement greenhouse gas emission reduction within the emission boundaries of each stage of the conference and exhibition activities according to the carbon neutrality management plan. On the basis of minimizing greenhouse gas emissions in the activities, carbon neutrality is achieved through carbon offset.

By adopting and implementing the "Implementation and Assessment Guidelines for Carbon Neutrality of Conference & Exhibition", the concept of green and low-carbon can be widely disseminated throughout society, and the public can be encouraged to actively practice a low-carbon lifestyle. It is not only conducive to the public to establish green and low-carbon values and consumption concepts, promote a new social trend of being proud of low carbon, but also promote the control of greenhouse gas emissions.
