CBCGDF Bio-rescue Network builds a three-tier rescue system: the first rescue sites confirmed! Welcome to join! | CBCGDF CCAfa & BCON

On 9 September 2024, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Bio-Rescue Network held a working meeting to sort out the construction structure of the Bio-Rescue Network, and after a comprehensive assessment, the first batch of rescue sites were clearly identified for landing.

The CBCGDF Bio-rescue Network mainly covers three levels, i.e. rescue points, rescue stations and regional rescue centres, which constitute a three-tier rescue system. The difference between the three lies in the different geographic scopes covered and serviced by these rescue points/stations/centres, such as the smallest unit of a community, i.e., a bio-rescue point can be set up; within the scope of the county level, an ambulance station is usually set up; and multiple counties and municipalities can be set up with bio-rescue centres. Bio-ambulance centres can be set up in several counties and cities.

From the point of view of the work content of the rescue network, it mainly covers four levels of rescue content. For example, rescue agencies (including biological rescue points, rescue stations and regional rescue centres) focus on plants and their habitats; animal rescue agencies (including biological rescue points, rescue stations and regional rescue centres) focus on wildlife, companion animals, etc., and their habitats (habitat); rescue agencies (including biological rescue points, rescue stations and regional rescue centres) focus on microorganisms and their habitats; and rescue agencies that include both plants and animals, and may also include microorganisms (such as plants and animals). integrated rescue organisations that include both plants and animals and may include microorganisms (including biological rescue points, rescue stations and regional rescue centres).

The CBCGDF biological rescue network, relying on the above levels of rescue points, rescue stations and regional rescue centres, gathers the latest cutting-edge rescue technology at home and abroad to provide timely rescue and protection to the relevant rescue targets.

"This is a very meaningful thing, which means that on the basis of having established more than 220 Community Conservation Areas (CBCGDF CCAfa) across the country, we have once again systematically increased the timely rescue of plants, animals, microorganisms, etc. in various regions, and in case of crises or dilemmas of the organisms in the relevant regions, the CBCGDF CBCGCAfa network will play a timely and linkage role, and will greatly improve the efficiency of ecological protection. " Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary General of CBCGDF, said at the conference.

Up to now, CBCGDF Biological Rescue Network has set up 3 rescue stations and 1 regional rescue centre in Tangshan area of Hebei, Beidaihe area of Hebei, Hutuo River of Hebei, Wuhan of Hubei, etc. In addition, regional rescue stations are being prepared in Dongying of Shandong, Qianjiang of Hubei and other places.

All types and sizes of rescue sites are welcome to join in CBCGDF biological rescue network.

This action, perfectly embodying CBCGDF's advocate——Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON), not only contributed to the protection and the sustainable development of the ecological environment, protecting "lush mountains & lucid waters", but also highlighted that the concept of ecological protection is gradually becoming the consensus and action of all sectors of society.

Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON) is a global biodiversity solution initiated by CBCGDF's Jinfeng Zhou which's designed to mitigate the rapid loss of biodiversity through people-centered approaches. As an innovative initiative for biodiversity conservation in the era of ecological civilization, "Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood" is a people-engaged solution, encouraging active contributions from the public in reducing biodiversity footprints in daily life, engaging in nature conservation, and actively contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As of Jan 2024, over 210 community conservation areas have been established to carry out "Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood" (BCON). BCON has been recognized as one of the global solutions for nature at the 2023 Paris Peace Forum.
