4 More Added, China's World Heritage Irrigation Structures Reached 38 Sites | CBCGDF Media Reports

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, on September 3, 2024, at the 75th Executive Council of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage(ICID) held in Sydney, Australia, the 2024 (11th batch) World Irrigation Engineering Heritage List was announced, and 4 World Heritage Irrigation Structures (WHIS) in China, including the Turpan Karez in Xinjiang Province, Huizhou Jieba-Wuyuan Shijie (joint application), Fengyan Terraces in Hanyin, Shaanxi Province, and Jufengyan in Xiushan, Chongqing City, were successfully selected.

So far, China has 38 WHIS sites, making it the country with the richest types of WHIS, the widest distribution, and the most outstanding irrigation benefits.
