TIAN Yan: Integral Protection and Public Interest Litigation of Historical and Cultural Blocks | CBCGDF Legal Department Discussion Meeting

On the afternoon of April 18th, 2024, the Legal Department of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), together with relevant units, successfully held a discussion meeting on public interest litigation for cultural heritage protection.

Prof.TIAN Yan from the Cultural Law and Human Rights Research Center of Minzu University of China shared a presentation on the theme of " Integral Protection and Public Interest Litigation of Historical and Cultural Blocks." She first gave an overview of the meaning and characteristics of historical and cultural blocks, and pointed out that the protection of historical and cultural blocks must follow the principles of integrity, authenticity, and completeness. She emphasized that integrity not only refers to the external form of historical and cultural blocks, but also encompasses their internal cultural heritage and social value. However, the current overall protection of historical and cultural districts still faces many challenges. She put forward a series of constructive suggestions in order to better protect these neighborhoods that carry rich historical and cultural connotations.
