Dr. Palitha Kohona Invited to Deliver an Opening Speech at the CBCGDF’s Side Event of the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4)

China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) will hold a side event titled "Marine Biodiversity and Sustainable Development of Small Island" at the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) (Antigua and Barbuda, from May 27th to 30th, 2024). 



The side event is at 15:00-18:00 (Beijing time) on May 28th. Dr. Palitha T. B. Kohona will deliver an opening speech. Dr. Palitha T. B. Kohona was the former ambassador of Sri Lanka to China ,the former Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations (UN).Until August 2009, he was the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Sri Lanka and was the former Secretary-General of the Secretariat for Coordinating the Peace Process. He was also the former co-chair of UN Ad Hoc working group on biological diversity beyond national jurisdiction. 



He is an experienced international environmental expert and an expert in the field of marine biodiversity, with outstanding experience and contributions in global environmental governance such as biodiversity governance, international law for the protection of high seas biodiversity, and climate change. As a former ambassador to China, he made important contributions to the exchanges between the two peoples during his tenure.
