Empowering Young Voices: CBCGDF Prepares for Ramsar Convention's 63rd Standing Committee Meeting

On May 29, 2024, the OceanWetlands Working Group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) held a preparatory training session for the upcoming 63rd meeting of the Ramsar Convention's Standing Committee (SC63). This critical meeting is scheduled to take place from June 3 to June 7, 2024, at the Ramsar Secretariat headquarters in Gland, Switzerland. Preceding the main event, the committee's subgroups and working groups will convene on Monday, June 3.

In alignment with its commitment to wetland conservation, the CBCGDF-OceanWetlands is meticulously preparing to attend SC63, continuing its tradition of active participation. As an observer organization to the Ramsar Convention, the CBCGDF has consistently sought to share China's conservation efforts and learn from intl community. This commitment was exemplified by the participation of young representatives from the CBCGDF's International Department in the 62nd Standing Committee meeting (SC62) held in Gland from September 4 to 8, 2023.

The preparatory training session held on May 29 aimed to equip the delegates with comprehensive knowledge of the meeting's agenda and key discussion points. The CBCGDF's Marine and Wetlands Working Group provided an in-depth overview of the upcoming conference, reflecting on past experiences and lessons learned to ensure effective participation and contribution.

Through this preparatory effort, the CBCGDF aspires to make a substantial impact at the Ramsar Convention, demonstrating China's progress in wetland conservation and contributing to the global discourse on sustainable development. The foundation remains steadfast in its mission to protect biodiversity and promote green development, continuing to engage with the international community to advance environmental conservation initiatives worldwide.

The upcoming SC63 meeting will be a testament to the power of collective action and shared knowledge in addressing the pressing challenges facing our planet's wetlands. As the CBCGDF-OceanWetlands prepares to join this significant global gathering, it reaffirms its commitment to ecological preservation and the promotion of sustainable practices that benefit both nature and humanity.
