The Fragility of the Ocean for Small Island Developing States: from Coral Reefs to Deep Sea Mining | James Crabbe to Deliver a Speech at CBCGDF SIDS4 Side Event

Small island developing States are home to most of the world’s biodiversity, but due to their remote location, limited capabilities, and fragile terrestrial and marine ecosystems, they face disproportionate threats and are at the forefront of multiple crises.

The 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) will be held in Antigua and Barbuda from May 27th to 30th, 2024. China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) will hold a side event titled "Marine Biodiversity and Sustainable Development of Small Island" at 15:00-18:00 (Beijing time) on May 28th.

Professor James Crabbe has confirmed to attend the SIDS4 and deliver a speech titled: “The Fragility of the Ocean for small island developing states: from Coral Reefs to Deep Sea Mining”.

James Crabbe is a Fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford; a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Royal Society of Arts, the Royal Society of Biology, the Royal Geographical Society, and the Linnean Society of Great Britain. He has been Dean of the School of Science, Technology and Creativity at the University of Bedfordshire, Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Reading, and Vice-President of the International Maritime Society.
