Volunteers of the CBCGDF CCAfa of Black Bear in Phoenix Mountain Conduct a Field Investigation
Recently, a volunteer team from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) conducted a field investigation in the Black Bear Conservation Area in Phoenix Mountain to get the picture of the living habits, habitat quality, and survival status of black bears through on-site observation, providing a basis for formulating more effective black bear protection measures in the future.
Before the investigation, the volunteers had organized and participated in relevant training to understand more about black bear’s identification characteristics, behavioral habits, and significance of protecting black bears.
The investigation was along the predetermined route. During this period, they observed the black bear's habitat, food sources, and activity areas, etc. while making detailed records of what was seen and heard, which will serve as important reference materials for analyzing the black bear’s habitat. At the same time, the volunteers also recorded basic environmental factors such as weather, terrain, and landforms, making preliminary inferences about various factors that may affect the black bear's habitat.
With the continuous development of local natural resources, the food sources that can be used by black bears in Phoenix Mountain are gradually reduced, making their survival conditions worrying. The volunteers hope to strengthen the protection of black bear habitats, carry out ecological restoration projects, improve the living environment of black bears, and raise public awareness of black bear protection through publicity and education.
