How Can Women Promote Wetland Conservation and Wise Use? | The 34th Session of the Global Environmental Governance Capacity Building Workshop

On Sept. 15th, 2023, the International Department of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), the Ocean&Wetlands Working Group and the Conference Division convened the 34th session of the Global Environmental Governance Capacity Building Workshop.

(1) Science Communication

In order to better serve scientific and technological workers, the Ocean&Wetlands Working Group reported on the recent status of the WeChat public platform "Ocean&Wetlands" and discussed how to better promote scientific popularization and sustainable development, and actively take part in global environmental governance.

(2) Progress Report on the 62nd meeting of the Standing Committee of Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (SC62)

From September 4-8, 2023, the youth representative of the International Department of CBCGDF arrived at the headquarters of the Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands in Gland, Switzerland, to attend the 62nd meeting of the Standing Committee of Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.

Xiao Yingjia, a young female representative of CBCGDF, shared with other women from various countries at a discussion on how to motivate women to better play an effective role in promoting wetland conservation and wise use, including the "Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON)", an innovative biodiversity conservation plan launched by the CBCGDF. Youth representatives take this opportunity to tell China's good stories, spread China's good voice, and showcase the good style and talents of the Chinese youth generation on the international stage.

(3) Facilitating the preparation of international conferences

The international department discussed about the preparations for future international conferences/events, including: Events in World Design Capital Conference 2023 (WDCC 2023), the 13th Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Meeting of the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (China Region), the Resumed Second Part of the Fifteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), the Paris Peace Forum, the Global Crop Diversity Summit, Tenth Session of the Governing Body of the Management Body of the The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, and the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP28), etc.
