XU Jianchu: Challenges and Opportunities Facing Africa in the Era of Artificial Intelligence | 19th International Conference on Genomics (ICG-19) | CBCGDF OceanWetlands Reports

On November 21, 2024, at the 19th International Conference on Genomics (ICG-19) held in Shenzhen, Dr. Xu Jianchu, an internationally renowned scientist, delivered a speech entitled "Into Africa: Why the artificial intelligence revolution is leaving Africa behind".

Dr. Xu Jianchu is the chief scientist of CIFOR-ICRAF and a researcher at the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research covers ethnoecology, agroforestry and circular agriculture, and is committed to promoting inclusive bioeconomy and global mountain sustainable development.

Since the first conference was held in 2006, more than 1,500 scientists, including Nobel Prize winners, and more than 15 million viewers around the world have witnessed the rapid development of life sciences and omics technologies with ICG.

As the co-organizer of this conference, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) sent representatives to Shenzhen to attend the conference.

The conference brought together the world's leading scientists and researchers to discuss the latest progress and future development in the field of genomics. As an important event in the global genomics field, ICG has not only showcased cutting-edge scientific research results over the years, but also provided a platform for interdisciplinary communication and cooperation for participants. The theme of the conference is "OMICS FOR ALL", which aims to promote the popularization and application of genomics technology and promote the sustainable development of global biotechnology.
