CBCGDF Volunteers Patrol in Jiamusi Wetland, Heilongjiang Province
In mid-November 2024, volunteers from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) patrolled in the flooded river section of wetlands in Fujin South Daxing Farm, Toulin Town, Xinglong Town, Baimi River and other places in Jiamusi, Heilongjiang Province.
The
task of this patrol is to control illegal fishing and protect precious species
such as wild Rana chensinensis in Northeast China. In the river section of the
drainage and irrigation station in Toulin flooded area, the volunteers found 11
illegal fishing cages, 7 net cages, etc. They immediately cleaned them up and
released 116 Rana chensinensis and about 10 kilograms of fish.
In
Fujin South Daxing Farm, Baimi River and other places, volunteers cleaned up 9
ground cages, 4 net cages and other illegal fishing tools, and released a large
number of wild fish estimated to be more than 360 kilograms.
This
action has effectively cracked down on illegal fishing and protected the
wetland ecology. The volunteers hope that through their efforts, they can raise
public awareness of wetland protection and jointly preserve this precious
natural resource.
