At the Invitation of The Royal Embassy of Saudi Araba in China, the CBCGDF Deputy Secretary-General Will Attend the UNCCD COP16
On the afternoon of November 6, 2024, Prof. WANG Huo, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), received an invitation letter from the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in China. The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in China greeted the CBCGDF and attached an invitation by the Director of The National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Prof. Huo WANG, Deputy Secretary-General of the CBCGDF. She is invited to attend the Green Zone event of the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP16) to be held in Riyadh from December 2 to 13, 2024.
The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification, based in Riyadh, is a governmental center responsible for overseeing the sustainable management and investment of pasturelands, forests, and national parks. It preserves plant genetic resources and vegetation across various environments outside the preserved areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to combat desertification.
The UNCCD COP16 is a unique multilateral platform where governments, businesses and civil society come together to jointly address today's challenges for a sustainable future, including the need to reverse land degradation and enhance drought resilience. The UNCCD COP16 is expected to be the largest meeting of the 197 parties to the convention in history, and the first conference of the parties to the convention to be held in the Middle East on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. As an observer to the UNCCD, CBCGDF has formed a delegation and will soon go to Riyadh to attend the conference.
Previously, Wang contributed to the UNCCD Youth Participation Strategy and Action Plan as a contributor.
