Hunting Wild Siberian Tigers under any Pretext is Illegal | Some Thoughts on human-Tiger Conflicts | CBCGDF BASE
On November 18, after a wild Siberian tiger entered the village in Boli County, Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province, the governments attached great importance to it. The Heilongjiang Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau held emergency meetings and online conferences to arrange control and prevention work.
Combined
with the study of the "Wildlife Protection Law of the People's Republic of
China", how should conflicts between humans and wild beasts be handled?
For
the protection of national key protected wildlife, any organization or
individual has the obligation to protect them and their habitats. It is
prohibited to illegally hunt, transport, and trade wildlife, and it is
prohibited to destroy wildlife habitats.
For
the protection of national key protected wildlife, the governments at all
levels should strengthen publicity and education on wildlife protection and
popularization of scientific knowledge. Regarding the protection of wildlife
habitats and migration routes, the author believes that local governments
should announce the construction achievements in this regard in detail to the
public, so that everyone can see how many nature reserves and protected areas
have been built in the region, how many wildlife migration corridors have been
built, and what protection measures have been taken, so that the people can
understand the implementation of relevant government protection measures.
According
to relevant statistics, there are only about 70 wild Siberian tigers, and
hunting Siberian tigers under any pretext is illegal. Those captured in
conflicts between humans and wild animals should be released back to the wild
in accordance with the law, and the release situation should be announced to
the public. If the protection of wildlife causes casualties, crop or other
property losses, the local government shall provide compensation.
