CBCGDF Volunteers Promote the Creation of Ginkgo Festival

Recently, under the initiative of the Ancient Tree Conservation Area of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), Anyang citizens ushered in a special festival - Anyang Ginkgo Festival. The ancient ginkgo is known as the "living fossil" of the plant world for its unique charm and profound cultural heritage, and its ecological, scientific research and cultural value.

Anyang City attaches great importance to the protection of ancient trees, including ancient ginkgo. In 2009, the municipal government issued the "Anyang City Ancient Tree Protection and Management Measures", which provided a solid legal basis for the protection of ancient trees. In practice, forestry technicians and local cadres and masses worked together to take a series of scientific and effective protection measures.

The Anyang Volunteer Group of CBCGDF has played an indispensable role in protecting ancient ginkgo. In order to raise public awareness of ancient tree protection, volunteers actively participated in the publicity and practice of ancient tree protection by holding various activities.

Despite certain achievements, the protection of ancient ginkgo in Anyang still faces some challenges. Some ancient ginkgo trees are in poor health due to too few tree pits and the removal of soil from their roots. In response, the volunteers plan to continue to report to the relevant departments, requesting the removal of the hardened layer of the ginkgo trees' roots and the restoration of the soil from their roots in order to effectively protect these precious ancient trees.
