CBCGDF Patrolling in Mountains to Protect the Black Bears | CBCGDF CCAfa

On November 5, 2024, volunteers from the Black Bear Conservation Area in Weidong of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) went deep into the Weidong Forest Farm in Tieli City, Heilongjiang Province and its surrounding areas to carry out a patrol action, aiming to monitor and protect the black bears and its living conditions in the area.

With the acceleration of urbanization, the natural habitat of black bears has been continuously encroached. Human activities have led to the loss and degradation of black bear habitats, and their food resources have been reduced, which has also exacerbated the conflict between black bears and humans. At the same time, black bears often face the risk of being arrested when they mistakenly enter human settlements for food. Illegal poaching also occurs from time to time in the remote mountains. In addition, climate change has also exacerbated the survival dilemma of black bears. Based on this, it is very important and necessary to carry out black bear protection patrol actions.

This patrol action is a direct monitoring of the survival status of black bears. Every effort of the volunteers and supporters is an important force to promote the positive development of biodiversity conservation.
