Siberian Tigers Frequently Enter Villages, Perhaps to Borrow Food and Roads? | CBCGDF Recommends to Restore Natural Corridors As Soon As Possible
Recently,
news of wild Siberian tigers entering villages in Qitaihe City, Ning'an County
and other places in Heilongjiang Province has frequently appeared on the
Internet. On November 18, a tiger injured a person again in Boli County,
Qitaihe City.
According
to comprehensive analysis of media reports, the places where wild Siberian
tigers are found are mainly concentrated in Zhangguangcai Ridge, Wanda Mountain
and Laoye Ridge, the remnants of Changbai Mountain. In the wild, especially in
winter, people and tigers frequently meet. On the one hand, it shows that the
local ecological environment protection has improved and the natural habitat of
wild Siberian tigers has been well restored; on the other hand, it also shows
that the number of wild Siberian tigers is steadily increasing, and the
existing habitat can no longer meet their needs of survival. Wild Siberian
tigers seem to be exploring to expand their territory.
Do
wild Siberian tigers enter the village to fill their stomachs? Not entirely.
From the video, we can see this Siberian tiger that entered the village seems
to be looking for a way out. The outline of the distant mountains in the video
can confirm this. From the perspective of the Siberian tiger, it is on its way
out of this mountain to another hillside, passing by a village where humans
live.
The
correct approach should be to "build bridges and pave roads" for
them! It is recommended to make efforts in ecological restoration and reserve
green channels for the migration of wild animals, at least large beasts that
are key protected. For example, returning farmland to forests and planting
trees at the junction of the three major mountain ranges in Heilongjiang
Province will form a green belt to protect the migration of wild animals,
reduce or avoid encounters between humans and wild animals, and prevent
incidents of wild animals attacking humans.
