CBCGDF Aquatic Life Community Conservation Area in Ningbo City Established

In October 2024, the Ningbo Anti-Electric Shock Fishing Volunteer Team applied to the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) to establish a CBCGDF Community Conservation Area. Recently, after public announcement and review, the CBCGDF Aquatic Life Community Conservation Area in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province (CCAfa224), officially became part of the CBCGDF CCAfa System and will continue to contribute to the protection of local aquatic life.

According to statistics from the Ningbo Anti-Electric Shock Fishing Volunteers, from June 2023 to the present, they have successively cracked down on more than 1,000 illegal fishing activities in Cixi City, Yuyao City, Zhenhai District, Beilun District, Fenghua District, Yinzhou District, Xiangshan County, Haishu District, Jiangbei District and other places under Ningbo City in a year and a half, and collected evidence on site for 465 cases, of which 90% of the illegal fishing activities were electric shock fishing by boat, and a few were backpack electric shock fishing and electric trawl fishing. According to the statistics of volunteers, the latest time of action when volunteers carried out patrols was three or four in the morning; the most was in early October last year, when more than 20 cases of illegal electric shock fishing were discovered and reported during one day of patrol.
