China Released Action Plan for Early Warning Systems to Promote Climate Change Adaptation (2025-2027) at UNFCCC COP29

China released its "Action Plan for Early Warning Systems to Promote Climate Change Adaptation (2025-2027)" during a high-level meeting at the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The plan outlines China's commitment to helping developing countries strengthen their early warning and adaptation capabilities to climate change.

The action plan focuses on four key areas, including sharing knowledge on climate risk assessment, building climate risk monitoring and forecasting platforms, sharing experiences in building climate-adaptive societies, and enhancing early warning capabilities in developing countries.

According to the plan, China will launch three Fengyun geostationary meteorological satellites in the next two years to provide high-frequency meteorological disaster monitoring for African, Asian and Pacific countries.

The plan also states that China will implement a South-South cooperation flagship project on climate change early warning, providing meteorological observation equipment and cloud-based early warning systems to relevant developing countries.
