The Popularization of Science and Technology Law Revised for the First Time in 22 Years, CBCGDF Legal Working Committee Submitted 14 Suggestions

Popularization of science and technology is an important basic work for achieving innovative development. The current " Popularization of Science and Technology Law" was promulgated and implemented in 2002, and has played an important role in promoting the popularization of science and technology, improving the scientific and cultural quality of citizens, and promoting innovative development. In 2022, the "Opinions on Further Strengthening the Popularization of Science and Technology in the New Era" was released, in which the arrangements for the development of science popularization in the new era was made. The revision of the "Popularization of Science and Technology Law" has been included in the 2024 legislative work plan of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and the State Council respectively.

 


Recently, the National People's Congress website announced the " Popularization of Science and Technology Law (Revised Draft)" and solicited public opinions. The Legal Working Committee of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) attaches great importance to this, and after careful study put forward 14 suggestions for chapters such as general principles, social responsibilities, science popularization activities, and safeguard measures, etc.
