CBCGDF Representative Participate in the Global Genome Biodiversity Network Online Information Session
At 22:00 on the evening of November 13, 2024 (Beijing time), the Global Genome Biodiversity Network (GGBN) held an information update session for members. China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) took part in the meeting as a core member.
At the meeting, experts from the Berlin Botanical
Garden and the Botanical Museum introduced the latest portal of the Global
Genome Biodiversity Network, which is scheduled to be launched in January 2025.
The GGBN database contains genomic sample
information from all over the world, and the data scale is extremely large. So
far, the database has collected more than 3.5 million occurrences data, more
than 4.2 million records, over 6.6 million material entities and over 130,000
taxa. These data are contributed by more than 40 data provider organizations
around the world.
Following the GBIF, DiSSCo, and the CETAF, GGBN
will also launch the Global Genome Biodiversity Network IDs (GGBNIDs) in January
2025.
At the meeting, experts of the ABS Compliance Consultant
introduced the achievements of the benefit sharing of digital sequence
information (DSI) of genetic resources at the 16th meeting of the Conference of
the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP16)
that the international system for benefit sharing of digital sequence
information of genetic resources has been fully established.
In addition, the Global Gardens Genome Initiative (GGl-Gardens)
was also introduced during the meeting.
