Dr. Zhou Jinfeng Visited Beibu Gulf University to Discuss Chinese White Dolphin Conservation Issues

Image
The Beibu Gulf of Guangxi is one of the major habitats for the Chinese White Dolphin. Recently, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng's team from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) went to Beibu Gulf University in Qinzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to conduct an on-site research on the conservation status of the Chinese White Dolphin in Sanniang Bay. Dr. Zhou Jinfeng pointed out that the first major problem in the conservation of Chinese white dolphins is genetic homogeneity, and there is no communication between the existing groups, which is a great risk of inbreeding. How to avoid inbreeding? Expanding its habitat and migration range, enlarging its population and establishing ecological corridors are the key points for the protection of Chinese White Dolphins in Sanniang Bay. Dr. Zhou Jinfeng further suggested that the following relevant studies be conducted jointly and immediately to lay a scientific foundation for the protection of the Chinese...

November is Manatee Awareness Month

Image
In 2005, the State of Florida proclaimed November Manatee Awareness Month in honour of the large aquatic mammals that live along the Florida coast and in other warm Atlantic coastal waters.   In 1979, the late former Florida Governor and co-founder of the Save the Manatee Club, Bob Graham, first proclaimed November as Manatee Awareness Month, at a time when the state was beginning to establish manatee protection zones. Manatee Awareness Month highlights the importance of protecting manatees and their habitat.   Florida manatees were first listed as an endangered species in 1966. Since then, a number of conservation measures have been put in place, including restrictions on waterfront development and speed limits for boats in areas where manatees may be present. Today, the manatee population in Florida is around 6,000 individuals. Edited by : YJ Reviewed  By:   Maggie Contact: v10@cbcgdf.org; +8617319454776 Contribution Do you know? Can Autonomous Driving Help Reduce Travel Energy Consumption? | CBCGDF Climate Change Working Group

Image
Autonomous driving holds the promise of reducing travel energy consumption. One of the main ways is through optimized driving patterns. Autonomous vehicles can be programmed to drive in the most fuel - efficient manner. For example, they can maintain a constant and optimal speed, which is more energy - efficient compared to the erratic driving habits of some human drivers. Also, self - driving cars can communicate with each other and with traffic infrastructure. This enables better traffic flow management. For instance, they can avoid unnecessary idling in traffic jams, which is a major source of wasted energy. However, there are some factors that might offset these potential energy - saving benefits.   The additional technology required for autonomous driving, such as sensors and high - power computing units, consumes energy. Moreover, if the adoption of autonomous driving leads to an increase in overall vehicle miles traveled due to increased convenience, this could potentially c...

How Inter - bank Business Can Facilitate the Construction of the Carbon Market| CBCGDF Climate Change Working Group

Image
The bank inter - bank business has the potential to play a crucial role in the construction of the carbon market. Firstly, through inter - bank lending, banks can allocate capital more efficiently towards carbon - related projects. For example, banks can provide preferential loans to enterprises engaged in clean energy development or carbon capture and storage technology research. This helps these projects get off the ground faster, which in turn promotes the growth of the carbon market. I nter - bank cooperation can also enhance the trading infrastructure of the carbon market. Banks can jointly develop more sophisticated trading platforms for carbon credits. These platforms can improve the transparency and liquidity of the carbon market. For instance, they can standardize the trading rules and procedures, making it easier for different market participants to engage in carbon trading.   Moreover, in the area of risk management, banks can use inter - bank derivatives trading to help...
