Charting a Path to Plastic-Pollution-Free Future: CBCGDF and The Soil Solution will Participate in the Fourth Session (INC-4) of the Plastic Treaty Negotiation Conference in Canada

On March 26, 2024, the International Department of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) engaged in a fruitful exchange with The Soil Solution, a Gambian NGO, regarding the upcoming Fourth Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-4) in Canada.

Scheduled from April 23 to 29, 2024, the Fourth Meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on a Legally Binding Agreement on Plastic Pollution (INC-4) will convene in Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Both CBCGDF and The Soil Solution will dispatch delegations to actively participate in the negotiation meetings, demonstrating commitments to global plastic pollution governance.

Meanwhile, the CBCGDF has long been dedicated to plastic pollution management. In 2017, it spearheaded initiatives such as advocating for all Chinese take-out platforms to offer green consumption options allowing consumers to opt-out of single-use utensils. The foundation has also launched campaigns like the "Bottle-light Initiative" and "People vs. Plastics,"  has been instrumental in promoting policies and standards at both national and local levels in China to reduce plastic pollution.

The collaboration between both sides underscores a shared commitment to addressing one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time: plastic pollution.  Engaging in international negotiations and advocating for sustainable solutions, this kind of communication exemplifies the spirit of global cooperation necessary to safeguard our pollution-free planet for future generations.
