Advancing the National Biodiversity Conservation Strategy Action Plan (2023-2030), CBCGDF To Host Symposium in Beijing, March 2024

The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) is set to host a symposium aimed at advancing the national biodiversity conservation strategy action plan on March 29, 2024. This event will take place at the China Science and Technology Hall.

The symposium will focus on mobilising all-stakeholders' participation in conservation efforts. Topics of discussion will include biodiversity legislation, law enforcement, and judiciary actions related to biodiversity conservation, as well as policies, funding support, Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON) approach, and international collaboration.

The opening remarks will be delivered by Zhou Jinfeng, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the CBCGDF, followed by Xie Boyang, Chairman of the foundation, who will preside over the event.

Keynote speeches will be delivered by distinguished experts, including Rao Zihe, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Professor at Tsinghua University School of Medicine, as well as Ouyang Zhiyun, Foreign Academician of the National Academy of Sciences (USA) and Researcher at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Additionally, representatives from various institutions such as the  Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Development Research Center of the State Council, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Global Environment Facility, the Central University of Finance and Economics, Wuhan University of Business, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, Wenzhou University and the China Geological Survey under the Ministry of Natural Resources will participate in panel discussions on legal, policy, and research aspects of biodiversity conservation.

One of the highlights of the event will be the initiative declaration. Adou Guliè, a renowned natural musician and the Director of the CBCGDF's Community Conservation Area for Western Black Crested Gibbons at Wuliangshan of Yunnan province, will announce an Initiative during this session.

The symposium will also feature interactive sessions to facilitate idea sharing and exchange among participants.

In conclusion, Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of the CBCGDF, will wrap up the symposium and provide insights into future biodiversity conservation efforts.

The symposium aims to foster joint efforts, collaboration and drive tangible progress in biodiversity conservation, showcasing the collective efforts of various stakeholders towards this crucial goal.
