In the past few years, Coca-Cola has stated that will work with other companies to solve the problem of packaging waste in response to being rated as the world's top plastic polluter. However, according to current data, the situation has not improved.
The circular economy is an important solution when it comes to tackling plastic pollution. The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) released in 2023 titled " Turning off the Tap: How the world can end plastic pollution and create a circular economy" pointed out that using recycling methods, such as reusable bottles, deposit return programs, packaging recycling programs, etc., Plastic pollution can be reduced by 30% by 2040.
The circular economy aims to meet basic human needs, but at the same time generates economic benefits with minimal impact on the environment. Most current business forms rely on low-cost, easily accessible resources. If the problem is not solved at the source, plastic pollution will be difficult to solve.
