CBCGDF Delegation Will Attend SBSTTA 26 and SBI 4 in Nairobi, Kenya

The twenty-sixth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 26) will be held from 13 to 18 May 2024, and the fourth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI 4) will be held from 21 to 29 May 2024 at the United Nations Environment Programme headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. The delegation from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) will attend the meeting in Nairobi.

 


Provisional agenda of SBSTTA 26:

1. Opening of the meeting.

2. Organizational matters: election of officers, adoption of the agenda and organization of work.

3. Monitoring framework for the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

4. Scientific and technical needs to support the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

5. Synthetic biology.

6. Risk assessment and risk management.

7. Detection and identification of living modified organisms.

8. Marine and coastal biodiversity:

(a) Further work on ecologically or biologically significant marine areas;

(b) Conservation and sustainable use of marine and coastal biodiversity.

9. Biodiversity and health.

10. Other matters.

11. Adoption of the report.

12. Closure of the meeting.

1.Organizational matters:

(a)Opening of the meeting;

(b)Adoption of the agenda and organization of work.

2.Review of implementation: progress in national target setting and the updating

of national biodiversity strategies and action plans.

3.Mechanisms for planning, monitoring, reporting and review.

4.Resource mobilization and financial mechanism:

(a)Resource mobilization;

(b)Financial mechanism.

5.Capacity-building and development, technical and scientific cooperation, clearing-house mechanism and knowledge management under the Convention and its Protocols:

(a)Capacity-building and development, technical and scientific cooperation, clearinghouse mechanism and knowledge management;

(b)Capacity-building and development action plan for the Nagoya Protocol.

6.Communication.

7.Cooperation with other conventions and international organizations.

8.Review of the effectiveness of the processes under the Convention and its Protocols.

9.Assessment and review of the effectiveness of the Nagoya Protocol (Article 31).

10.Long-term strategic approach to mainstreaming.

11.Review of the programmes of work of the Convention.

12.Multi-year programme of work of the Conference of the Parties.

13.Administrative and budgetary matters.

14.Other matters.

15.Adoption of the report.
