CBCGDF CCAfa Donated over 300 Acer pentaphyllum to Domestic Scientific Research Institutes

Recently, the Acer pentaphyllum Community Conservation Area (CCAfa) in Tianshui of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has donated more than 300 Acer pentaphyllum seedlings to 13 units including botanical gardens and scientific research institutions in various places.

Recently, Mr. LU Chengdai, director of the Acer pentaphyllum Community Conservation Area (CCAfa) in Tianshui has successively sent seedlings to Luoyang, Xiamen, Turpan, Kunshan, Chengdu, Changchun, Changsha, Shenyang, Hohhot and other cities.

The Baoji Botanical Garden expressed its gratitude to CBCGDF Acer pentaphyllum Community Conservation Area in Tianshui, from whom it had received 22 seedlings.

Through donation and trial planting, more and more Acer pentaphyllum seedlings are going to all parts of the country and entering the eyes of more people. This is undoubtedly a good thing for the protection of Acer pentaphyllum.

The Acer pentaphyllum is an endangered species in the world. Wild populations only remain in the Yalong River Valley in Jiulong County, Kangding County, Yajiang County and Muli County in Sichuan,China. Its leaves are unique in shape and bright in color, making it an excellent ornamental plant.

Because the number is very rare and in situ protection is difficult, artificial cultivation and ex situ conservation work have become important measures to rescue this rare species. CBCGDF has been committed to doing this since 2009. After 15 years of hard work, it has now achieved very good results in terms of the number of seedlings and experience in planting and raising seedlings.

Animal and plant protection is a relay race, and only when more people join can we go further. CBCGDF knows this well, which is why it has worked hard to promote Acer pentaphyllum to various places in recent years.

If you are a government department, social welfare organization, etc. (not for individuals at the moment), and are interested in trial planting, or incorporating Acer pentaphyllum into local biodiversity conservation and rural revitalization and other related projects to relay this conservation action, then, welcome to contact us by email: v42@cbcgdf.org.
