CBCGDF BCON’s Recommendation: Promoting Cultural Tourism Development Through Ecological Agriculture

On March 21, 2024, Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood Working Group of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF BCON) actively responded to the call to discuss the newly released Implementation Plan for Promoting Tourism Shopping Consumption (2024-2026)  (Draft for Comment) in Shandong Province. CBCGDF BCON Working Group submitted two recommendations. Here is the Recommendation 1.

Recommendation 1It is suggested to increase the content of cultural tourism based on ecological agriculture, and combine the high-quality development of agriculture and rural areas with the policy of promoting tourism consumption.

Shandong Province is a big agricultural province. By carrying out cultural tourism activities based on ecological agriculture, it can not only promote ecological environment protection and inherit farming culture, but also increase farmers' income and promote rural revitalization, which is of great significance to the sustainable development of Shandong Province.

CBCGDF BCON Working Group
has been promoting the work of Eco-site for a long time, demonstrating the efforts of the public to promote ecological civilization. In this process, a number of biodiversity-friendly farms in Shandong were discovered, such as Siyuan Ecological Farm in Zaozhuang and Hongyi Ecological Farm in Pingyi County, which supported the establishment of the Eco-site. Ecological agriculture focuses on the balance and sustainable development of the ecosystem. By promoting the ecological agriculture model, the use of fertilizers and pesticides can be reducedsoil, water resources and biodiversity can be protected; and the local ecological environment can be improved and protected. Shandong Province is the land of traditional farming culture in China. Vigorously carrying out cultural tourism activities based on ecological agriculture will help inherit and promote farming culture, let tourists understand the historical origin, traditional skills and cultural connotation of farming culture, and enhance cultural confidence and identity. This model of long-term practice of ecological agriculture can become a demonstration site to promote rural research and tourism consumption.
