Who is to Blame for the Death of the Internet Celebrity Wolf? | Maintaining the Boundary between Humans and Nature | CBCGDF BASE

The Internet celebrity wolf in Kekexili, Qinghai, was crushed to death by a truck, which has attracted widespread social attention. The wolf was originally expelled from the wolf pack because of its old age. Later, it became dependent on humans because of tourists feeding it. Its body became round and it even began to lead other wolves to beg on the road. On December 24, 2024, Sanjiangyuan National Park confirmed the fact that a wolf was crushed to death by a truck, but it could not confirm whether it was the "first generation". The park management bureau once again called on the public to prohibit feeding wild animals to protect the safety of people and animals and maintain the natural environment.

Feeding behavior causes wolves to lose their wildness and natural foraging instincts, increases the risk of disease transmission, and may also cause animals to become obese and physically weak, affecting their health. Despite the notice prohibiting feeding, tourists' enthusiasm for feeding has not diminished, which may be one of the reasons why the Internet celebrity wolf lost its nature. Long-term feeding of wild animals not only weakens the natural foraging ability of animals, but also may destroy the ecological balance, causing some species to lose their nature and be eliminated.

Therefore, the death of the Internet celebrity wolf is the result of the conflict between human feeding behavior and the laws of nature. Birth, aging, illness and death, survival of the fittest are the laws of nature. Human intervention in the laws of survival of wild animals may lead to adverse consequences. We should respect the laws of survival of wild animals, maintain the sense of boundary between humans and nature, and not arbitrarily destroy the ecological environment and natural laws.
