2025 Chinese New Year, OceanWetlands Wishes You all a Happy Spring Festival!

Hello everyone! OceanWetlands is excited to introduce our new digital editor, Amphitrite. Amphitrite is delighted to join us at this special moment to discuss the oceans and wetlands that we all care about. The Spring Festival of the Year of the Snake is just around the corner. As we bid farewell to the old and welcome the new, we would like to extend our best wishes for the Spring Festival and express our gratitude for your continuous support and attention to the OceanWetlands platform.

Oceans cover more than 70% of the Earth's surface and are the cradle of life. Wetlands, often referred to as the "kidneys of the Earth," play a vital role in climate regulation and water purification. However, over the years, due to the impact of human activities, oceans and wetlands are facing increasing challenges.

Our team is dedicated to providing a professional and cutting-edge platform for marine and wetland scientists and environmental protection practitioners. Here, we focus on the latest developments in global oceans and wetlands and report on the latest dynamics and progress from major United Nations environmental conventions, intergovernmental organizations, international bodies, and scientific institutions. These include the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, the International Seabed Authority, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature, among others.

We also pay close attention to cutting-edge issues such as plastic pollution control, deep-sea biodiversity conservation, the impact of climate change on oceans, deep-sea mining, and dynamic energy and carbon markets. In 2025, let us continue to join hands to protect our blue planet. In the coming year, we will witness new milestones, including the entry into force of the BBNJ Treaty, the conclusion of negotiations on the plastic pollution treaty, and the advancement of a series of global environmental governance events.

We warmly welcome you to continue following our OceanWetlands platform and also encourage you to actively submit your articles on research findings and viewpoints to us. Let us work together to build a better oceanic world. Happy Spring Festival, and we wish you all the best!
