Placing Infrared Cameras and Investigating Birds to Conduct the Second Biodiversity Survey of Qingshui Town, in Mentougou District, Beijing|CBCGDF Research Department

In January 2025, in order to gain a deeper understanding of the biodiversity status of Shangqingshui Village, Xiaqingshui Village, Damo Village and other areas in Qingshui Town, Mentougou District, Beijing, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Research Department and related project teams went to the area to conduct a comprehensive biodiversity survey. The survey aims to grasp the distribution of wild animal and plant resources in the relevant areas of Qingshui Town through scientific methods, and to evaluate the status of biodiversity conservation in the area in the future.

The survey method mainly uses infrared cameras and sample line methods, supplemented by sample point methods, visit surveys, etc. Infrared camera monitoring is an important means to understand the current status, dynamic changes and threats of wildlife diversity. It has the advantages of high sensitivity and no interference or damage to wild animals. The sample line method is a commonly used plant survey method. According to the topography and vegetation types of Qingshui Town, the researchers set up multiple sample lines, surveyed plant species along the sample lines, and recorded information such as the distribution, quantity, and growth status of plants.

After the survey, the project team will complete the biodiversity survey and assessment report based on the collected data, and analyze the current status of biodiversity protection in the relevant areas of Qingshui Town in combination with the 14th Five-Year Development Plan of Qingshui Town in Mentougou District, and put forward targeted suggestions for the development of the region.

CBCGDF will continue to uphold the concept of green development, actively fulfill its social responsibilities, and promote regional biodiversity conservation. In the future, it will further strengthen cooperation with local governments, scientific research institutions, communities and the public to jointly build a long-term mechanism for biodiversity protection and contribute to the construction of ecological civilization.
