As the Spring Festival Approaches, CBCGDF Volunteers Patrol and Crack Down on Illegal Poaching!
Recently, volunteers from the Black Bear Reserve of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF), Weidong, went deep into the red pine forest of Weidong and started the first patrol in 2025. The patrol covered more than 20 kilometers in the snow, and the volunteers persevered with practical actions and measured with their footsteps.
The volunteers gathered from their homes and set out to the Weidong red pine forest. They had to go through a long mountain road with thick snow, which made it difficult to walk. As the Spring Festival approaches, the villages at the foot of the mountain gradually become lively. This is the key period for patrols. According to past practices, there are always some people who illegally hunt wild animals in order to satisfy their hunger. Therefore, it is necessary to increase patrols at this time.
During the patrol, the volunteers stopped from time to time to carefully observe the traces on the snow, from messy footprints to broken branches, not missing any details. In front of a cave, the volunteers stopped and observed carefully. There were obvious traces of wild animals around, but they could not tell what kind of animal the cave was. In order not to disturb their rest, the volunteers chose to leave.
This patrol is not only a comprehensive physical examination of the Weidong Korean pine forest, but also another practice of the concept of ecological civilization by the volunteers of the China Green Foundation Black Bear Conservation Area. They know that the road to protecting black bears and biodiversity is long and arduous, but as long as there is love in their hearts and they keep going, the vision of harmonious coexistence between man and nature will surely be realized.
