Combating Illegal Poaching, CBCGDF Volunteers Patrol in the Snow | CBCGDF Black Bear Conservation Area
Recently, volunteers from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Black Bear Conservation Area in Teli city, Heilongjing Province, went deep into the Weidong red pine forest and started the first patrol in 2025.
As the Spring Festival approaches, the
village at the foot of the mountain gradually becomes lively. This is the
critical period for patrols. According to the practice of previous years, there
are always some people who illegally hunt wild animals. Therefore, it is
necessary to increase the intensity of patrols at this time.
This patrol is more than 20 kilometers
round trip. The volunteers recorded the data while capturing some precious
moments. "The patrol work seems simple, but it is not. In addition to
cleaning up the illegal traps encountered, we must always pay attention to the
surrounding environment and carefully record the necessary data. Since you can
only walk in the mountains, it takes a day to go back and forth. At noon, we usually
eat something casually, rest for a while, and then start the return journey
quickly." One of the volunteers said.
