CBCGDF Volunteer Patrol Record: More Than Ten Dead Birds Hanging on a Bird Net
On January 9, 2025, volunteers from the Suihua Wetland Reserve of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) found a bird net in the field while patrolling in Baoshan Town, Beilin District, Suihua City. The bird net was supported by two large wooden poles and set up on the side of a reed field. After the volunteers approached and carefully counted, they found that there were ten sparrows, a national "three-protected" animal, hanging on the bird net. The volunteers of the Green Association immediately dismantled the bird net.
Volunteers carefully rescued the sparrows one by one, but unfortunately, in temperatures close to minus 20 degrees Celsius, they had been trapped for an unknown period of time and had already lost their vital signs.
In the coldest days of winter, in the snowy wilderness, birds come out to look for food and rely on this dry reed marsh as a habitat to temporarily settle down and wait for the arrival of next spring. However, they did not expect that due to human greed, these birds will never be able to return home.
All things have spirits. I hope humans can treat every life in nature well.
