CBCGDF CCAfa Volunteers Reports: Someone Spread Poison in the Snow to Catch Pheasants! This Is So Abominable!

On January 12, 2025, volunteers from the Wetland Community Conservation Area in Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province(CCAfa) of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) found a pheasant in the snow that was gnawed by other wild animals and only had two wings left while patrolling near National Highway 222 in Beilin District, Suihua City.

According to the observation of the CBCGDF volunteers, there were still undigested corn kernels in the abdomen of this pheasant. The volunteers continued to search forward and found several corn kernels scattered on the snow as shown in the figure below.

According to the on-site investigation of the volunteers, these corn kernels were mixed with colorless poison and then deliberately scattered in the fields in order to catch pheasants foraging in the snow. Of course, some other birds that were accidentally eaten may also be poisoned. Because of the ice and snow, and the temperature of more than 20 degrees below zero, it is already difficult for various wild animals to obtain food. In the process of foraging, if they accidentally find corn kernels on the snow, they will definitely eat anything they want.

Based on the footprints on the snow, the volunteers observed that the poisoner would come here every once in a while to search for pheasants that died of poisoning. If the poisoner did not come in time, these pheasants that died of poisoning on the snow would become food for other wild animals foraging on the snow.

In the wilderness of winter, in the bleak cold wind, these creatures in nature stepped on the snow just to find something to eat, but they did not expect that there were traps everywhere on the snow, and they might lose their lives at any time. If they had the same perception as humans, I wonder if they would hate human greed?
