CBCGDF "Plant a Million Corals " Won the Annual Public Welfare Project Award | The 14th Philanthropy Festival

The 14th Philanthropy Festival was held in Beijing from January 9 to 10, 2025. The "Plant a Million Corals " project of the Coral Conservation Area of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) won the 2024 Annual Public Welfare Project Award.

In recent years, the CBCGDF Coral Conservation Area in Sanya, Hainan Province and the Hainan South China Sea Tropical Ocean Research Institute have established a coral reef ecological restoration demonstration area through large-scale reproduction and reef-building activities on the declining coral reefs in the South China Sea.

Since the implementation of the "Plant a Million Corals " project, through the large-scale reproduction and transplantation of corals, nearly 800,000 corals have been cultivated in ten years, and these corals have multiplied to more than 2 million through self-reproduction, forming a magnificent coral reef ecosystem.

After years of practice, the CBCGDF Coral Conservation Area and the Hainan South China Sea Tropical Ocean Research Institute have formed many original and complete technical achievements in coral reproduction, transplantation, coral reef ecological restoration, engineering equipment, etc., which also laid the foundation for the smooth implementation of this project.

The successful implementation of the "Plant a Million Corals " project has helped protect marine biodiversity, promoted marine ecological restoration, and developed the marine economy, which is of great significance to the implementation of the national marine power strategy.
