Ministry of Ecology and Environment Soliciting Public Input on Optimizing Environmental Impact Assessment for Pharmaceutical Projects | CBCGDF Legal Working Committee
The pharmaceutical industry is a strategic
sector vital to national livelihood, economic development, and national
security. This industry is characterized by high R&D demands, strong
innovation vitality, rapid product updates, frequent changes, and short market
response cycles. To better support the development of new pharmaceutical
businesses, effectively reduce corporate burdens, optimize the environmental
impact assessment (EIA) management of pharmaceutical construction projects, and
promote green and high-quality development within the pharmaceutical sector,
the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has organized the drafting of the
"Notice on Optimizing the Environmental Impact Assessment for
Pharmaceutical Construction Projects (Draft for Comments)." This draft is
now open for public suggestions.
The Draft addresses existing issues and
deficiencies in the current EIA process for pharmaceutical projects, such as
unclear environmental procedures for adjustments in construction content during
operation and the need for improved environmental management and pollution
control levels in pharmaceutical enterprises. It proposes improvements in
optimizing EIA management for pharmaceutical projects, strengthening the
approval and regulatory enforcement of EIA for these projects, and other
relevant aspects.
The Legal Working Committee of the China
Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) will organize
a discussion on the Draft. We welcome valuable opinions and suggestions from
all sectors of society, and please send your opinions to v43@cbcgdf.org by February
8, 2025. Thank you for your participation.
