Third Census of Crop Germplasm Resources: What Does the Data Reveal?

On December 10, 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs held a press conference to introduce the situation of the national agricultural germplasm resources census, which was the largest in scale, the widest in coverage, and the most participants, clarifying the types, quantities, regional distribution, and characteristics of China's crop, livestock, and aquaculture germplasm resources, collecting a large number of agricultural germplasm resources, and rescuing and protecting a number of endangered resources. From March 2021 to 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, together with localities and relevant departments, carried out the third census and collection action of crop germplasm resources.
