ZHOU Jinfeng Meets with Joel Baumgartner, China Country Manager of PUR Project China

On the morning of December 18, 2024, Dr. ZHOU Jinfeng, Founding Chair, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), President of World Academy of Sustainable Development Limited (WAOSD), Fellow of World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS) met with Mr. Joel Baumgartner,China Country Manager of PUR Project China, who visited the CBCGDFs office.

Dr. ZHOU Jinfeng introduced the work and practice of the CBCGDF in afforestation, soil carbon sequestration, and ecological restoration, and emphasized the scientific nature of afforestation. He pointed out that afforestation should not only be adapted to local conditions and time, select local tree species, and pay attention to the diversity of tree species, but also start from a scientific perspective, aiming to restore the local natural ecology, and adopt nature-based solutions. Afforestation is not limited to planting trees. Understory microorganisms, fungi, weeds, soil, etc. are all important ecological indicators, which are of great significance for the restoration of ecosystems and carbon sequestration.

Mr. Joel Baumgartner,China Country Manager of PUR  Project China, introduced the PUR PROJET Kunming Co., Ltd. He pointed out that PUR PROJET is a social enterprise that focuses not only on the realization of commercial value, but also on the realization of sustainable supply chain and ecological value. For many years, it has been engaged in afforestation in Yunnan, advocating nature-based solutions. In the process of afforestation, it focuses on the use of local tree species to achieve biodiversity protection.

Both parties agreed to carry out cooperation in afforestation, biodiversity conservation and other aspects in China.
