CBCGDF's suggestions ALL Accepted! | Policy Advisory on “Technical Specification for Soil Environmental Monitoring (Draft for Comments)”--- Serving the National Scientific Decision-making

On the afternoon of December 25, 2024, we received a call from the relevant national department, informing us that all of our previous suggestions for the National Ecological and Environmental Standard “Technical Specification for Soil Environmental Monitoring (Draft for Comments)” have been basically adopted; and expressing their heartfelt gratitude.

On October 12, 2024, the relevant department issued a notice on public consultation on the Technical Specification for Soil Environmental Monitoring (Draft for Comments)”to standardize the work of soil environmental monitoring.

The International Department of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) responded positively to the call and, after careful study and discussion, submitted further optimization suggestions, including 3 overall proposals and several specific proposals, for reference in its scientific decision-making, with a view to better adapting to the current practical needs and technological development of soil environment monitoring.

With regard to soil environmental monitoring, CBCGDF International recommends clarifying the definition of the term “contaminant”; increasing the monitoring of emerging contaminants; and focusing on the monitoring of soil biodiversity. In addition, CBCGDF International also put forward very detailed suggestions for optimization and improvement of some specific chapters, suggesting that the technical specification should be considered in a comprehensive manner, adjusted flexibly, monitored dynamically, tracked in the long term and evaluated comprehensively.

Over the years, CBCGDF has been committed to biodiversity conservation and is very concerned about soil ecology and soil biodiversity. This proposal is based on CBCGDF's years of experience in soil protection, to better help assess the soil health and guide soil conservation/restoration.

CBCGDF will continue to actively contribute to the scientific decision-making and mainstreaming of biodiversity across the country.
