Chief Scientist of the CBCGDF UNCCD-COP16 Delegation DONG Suocheng Proposed to Build a "Green Great Wall in the Yellow River Basin and Mongolian Plateau" at the COP16

Prof. DONG Suocheng, Chief Scientist of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) Green Link International Cooperation Fund, Director of the Northeast Asia Sustainable Development Research Center of the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and President of the "Belt and Road" International Scientists Alliance, made a keynote report on "Desertification Control and Green Development Model and Practice in Northwest China and the Mongolian Plateau" at the 16th Conference of the Parties(COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification(UNCCD). Following the important instructions on "Ecological Protection and High-quality Development of the Yellow River Basin" and the eight actions of jointly building the "Belt and Road" to "promote green development" and "build an important ecological security barrier in northern my country", he proposed to build a green Great Wall in the Yellow River Basin and the Mongolian Plateau. It systematically summarizes the team's unremitting exploration of innovative models that combine desertification prevention and control with green development, and promote ecological protection and green high-quality development in typical areas of Northwest China, the Yellow River Basin, the Mongolian Plateau, and the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor for nearly 20 years, including the construction of green ecological cities in "six cities", four-layer circular economy, and large-scale tourism green low-carbon circular development models, and has been applied and practiced in many places, achieving huge comprehensive benefits.
